HYDERABAD: Two police officers on Thursday undertook before a division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, that they would not interfere in the affairs of the Government Higher Secondary School, Tando Bago, over the matter of its playground in future. The court disposed of the petition as the principal of the school did not press his petition.

They bench was seized with a constitutional petition filed by Mir Faraz Ali through his counsel Sajjad Ahmed Chandio.

During the previous hearing of the case, respondents DSP Khalid Hussain Rustamani and sub-inspector Salahuddin Rustamani filed their affidavits, mentioning that they had no concern with the subject land which was not in their possession.

The petition filed against them and some government officials stated that the petitioner’s family before inception of Pakistan had donated the land for seminaries, schools, libraries, playgrounds and hospitals.

Mir Ghulam Mohammad Khan Talpur, a member of the petitioner’s family, had donated his land for a seminary (school) along with a hostel, playground, etc and shared the expenses with some other landowners.

The petitioner submitted that named after Mir Ghulam Mohammed Khan Talpur, the school/seminary was handed over to government after his death.

However, he further submitted, the two-acre playground was taken over by the two police officers a few months back with the help of other respondents.

They started converting it to a stadium, he stated, and added that no action was being taken in the matter despite complaints owing to the respondents’ influence.
