QUETTA: Terming the setting up of military courts an unconstitutional step, the chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), Nasrullah Bungu­lzai, has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to play his due role and get the proposal for such courts reversed.

Mr Bungulzai speaking at a press conference on Thursday said the government had first introduced the controversial Protection of Pakistan Ordinance and now it was trying to establish military courts to `use them against anti-government Baloch’.

He said he was being threatened to stay away from organisational activities of the VBMP or face the consequences and added that the government would be responsible if any harm came to him.

The VBMP chairman said that 435 Baloch went missing in the year 2014 and 455 mutilated bodies were found in different parts of the province. Some 348 bodies could not be identified, he added.

Mr Bungulzai criticised the government for `inadequate’ arrangement at the morgues at the Bolan Medical Complex and Civil Hospital.

He said there should be more space so that bodies could be kept for long for identification.
