KARACHI: Five suspects, belonging to the banned militant organisation, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, were arrested from Karachi's Ittehad Town on Monday.

Personnel from the Crime Investigation Department's (CID) anti-terrorism cell conducted a raid in Ittehad Town during which five suspects were arrested following an exchange of fire.

A number of weapons were also recovered from the suspects, including five hand grenades.

Sources told Dawn that the suspects had received jihad training in Waziristan. They were said to be involved in extortion activities and attempted murders.

Further investigation by police is under way.
