ISLAMABAD: Gree-ting the Christian community on Christmas, Presi-dent Mamnoon Hus-sain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have highlighted the equality of all citizens enshrined in the Constitution and pledged by Quaid-i-Azam Moham-mad Ali Jinnah in his address to the Constituent Assembly on Aug 11, 1947.

“Let me reiterate our resolve to fight religious intolerance. Let it also be made clear that we will not permit the persecution of members of other faiths in the name of religion,” the president said in his message issued on the occasion.

He said the equality of all citizens was enshrined in the Constitution.

The prime minister in his message to the community reiterated that the government would protect their legal rights and interests.
