MUZAFFARGARH: Khangarh police claimed on Saturday to have recovered Rs2.5 million from a dacoits’ gang during interrogation.

DPO Zameerul Haq told reporters the gang had looted cash and gold worth Rs5 million from the house of Qurban Husain, an academy principal, on Alipur Road on Aug 3.

After collecting cash and gold from his house, the gang broke into the house of his brother, Zulfiqar, and took away valuables from there too.

He said of them, three suspects had been killed in an encounter, as many others were behind the bars while others were at large.

CIA Inspector Rehan Rasool said the gang had sold 60-tola gold, taken away from the house, in Rajanpur district. He said he along with SHO Javed Akhtar arrested the goldsmith who had confessed to buying the booty.

Happy at the recovery, Qurban gave Rs100,000 each to Rehan and Akhtar. He said the dacoits had introduced themselves as personnel of a secret intelligence agency.
