LAHORE: Top 30 professionals will pocket cash prizes worth Rs1.5 million as the four-day Punjab Open Golf Championships tees off at the Defenc Raya Golf and Country Club here from Thursday.

Overall, 88 professionals have confirmed their entries in the event and will compete on last three days from Friday to Sunday.

Prominent golfers taking part in the championship are Shabbir Iqbal,Mohammed Munir, Imdad Hussain, Matloob Ahmed, Mohammad Tariq, Waheed Baloch, Shafiq Masih, Mohammed Ashfaq, Amjad Yousaf, Afsar Ali and Hamza Amin.

Senior amateurs play the one-day event on Thursday. Amateurs will contest for the honour over three rounds while the Ladies event will be contested on Thursday and Friday.
