LAHORE: A teenaged girl suffered multiple burns after her father allegedly set her on fire in Jhuggian Nagra locality of Nawankot on Sunday.

Nawankot SHO Mansoor Ahmad said Muhammad Tufail, a father of four, sprinkled petrol on Sidra and set her on fire before escape.

He said preliminary inquiries showed that the incident shortly happened after the suspect got into an argument with his wife over marriage proposal of the victim and her mother left for buying grocery from a market.

The SHO said the girl was shifted to Mayo Hospital where she was under treatment for hands and face burns.

He said a case was registered against the runaway suspect.
