RAWALPINDI: Six-day exhibition of Ceramics Art by artist Lubna Malik kicked off on Tuesday at the Rawalpindi Arts Council.

Pride of Performance winner artist Aftab Ahmed Khan accompanied by Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition.

More than 80 art pieces have been showcased at the gallery including calligraphy and wall panel pieces in a variety of colours.

Lubna Malik, who is originally from Sargodha, trained at the National College of Arts in Lahore.

She has conducted three solo exhibitions and participated in 11 group shows all over the country.

Lubna Malik is also teaching Ceramics at Shakir Ali Museum, Lahore to contribute towards the development of a new generation of ceramists.

Speaking on the occasion, Aftab Ahmed Khan said Lubna Malik is a great ceramist and her ability to fashion Allah’s names out of clay is a unique ability. Her mastery is unmatched among ceramists, he said.

“I had wanted to write the names of Allah and Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) but could not complete the task. Lubna has managed to do this at a young age,” he said.

He said that the artist’s work reflects maturity and depth of thought.

RAC Former Resident Director Naheed Manzoor also said that Lubna Malik’s work is unique in which white clay mixed with different colours has been baked with expertise.

RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed welcomed Lubna Malik for conducting her first exhibition at Rawalpindi Arts Council.

He said that this Council belongs to the artists whose work is displayed here.

“She works hard and knows how to balance colours on her canvas. Her work shows intelligence,” he said.

The exhibition will remain open till December 1.
