ANP leader, MQM worker killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: An Awami National Party (ANP) district president and a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party worker were killed in two separate incidents of violence in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

Unknown gunmen shot dead ANP leader Dr Ziauddin in Orangi Town after he was returning from a mosque after prayers.

The gunmen opened indiscriminate fire, as a result of which Dr Ziauddin died on the spot. The assailants fled from the scene soon after the shooting.

He body was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Karachi. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.

The ANP condemned the killing and said they would hold a protest in front of the Chief Minister House.

Separately, an MQM worker was killed after being shot in Orangi Town.

MQM leader Altaf Hussain has condemned the killing and said the government had failed to prevent such attacks from taking place.

Even though I am fed up of writing comments on this blog, I am determined to keep on wtiting against these cold blooded murders hoping one day our mindless, selfish and greedy politicians will wake up and do something to protect theit electorates.

Until and unless IK democracy, I.e the real genuine democracy comes to Pakistan, this criminality will carry on. The police should be recruited from the city not brought in from outside.

Unknown assailants came from no where, did the killing and disappeared. What does it say about the state of city of millions of heartless people, police and politicians who think at least they did not die. Don't tell me no body saw the killers or no body had a gun they could use to kill the killers. The attitude of ignoring others killing has to stop. What is the Govt doing about it??? Qaim Ali Shah and IG police, do you have an answer?

Stop blaming democracy and politician . Now most killing have religion motive behind it. At least these two parties join hand against these religious parties.

It is sad as no political parties would want their workers or even public to be killed, it is ironic that people used to blame MQM for everything and anything that happened in Karachi or wider Sindh, this is to say that a party who wants vote from its home constituency want their voters to be reduced in numbers. We badly need local body system like in the days of Musharraf where MQM was able to control the law and order particularly in Karachi.
