‘SMPA to promote pentathlon’

KARACHI: Sindh Modern Pentathlon Association (SM­PA) president Afzal Zaidi on Thursday said the organisation will make efforts to pro­mote the sport in the province.

Addressing SMPA general body meeting, Afzal said the Sindh body would give equal importance to every region. “Every region is important and if we want to establish a strong team of Sindh, then on every region is the key,” said Afzal. “We will use every reso­urce available to make a str­o­ng team which could perform well at the national level.”

SMPA vice-president Khalid Muneer, secretary Imran Ali Zaman, treasurer Syeda Majida Haneef and other officials were also present on the occasion while Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF) secretary Chaudhry Zahoor Ahmed and Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput also attended the meeting.

Afzal further said SMPA will soon be organising refresher and training courses at school and college levels. The general body also planned to organise inter-region and Quaid-i-Azam Day pentathlon championship along with several other eve­nts for the year 2015.
