LAHORE: Injured Test opener Ahmed Shehzad has been advised a minimum of three weeks rest in Pakistan, thus he is coming back home from the UAE.
“Since Shehzad is advised not to participate in sporting activities for three weeks, he cannot take part in the ongoing Test. It is therefore decided to send him back to Pakistan for complete rest and recuperation,” a PCB press release quotes manager Moin Khan.
Shehzad was hit in the face while attempting a pull shot on a Corey Anderson bouncer. He was taken to hospital where he was examined by a plastic surgeon.
“After examining his CT scan, the consultant confirmed that he had fracture the right zygomatic arch but fortunately he did not require active surgical intervention at present and can be managed conservatively on pain killers and muscle relaxants for a week,” the press release states.
“Shehzad will remain under observation of Dr Sohail Saleem, PCB’s senior general manager, sports medicine [in Pakistan],” it concludes.
