SUKKUR: A clash between two armed groups belonging to the Sabzoi clan left one man dead and two others wounded in the kutcha area of Durrani Mahar near Kandhkot town on Thursday.

The rival groups have been at odds for some time over an alleged extramarital affair, the area police said.

On Thursday, a brawl took place between members of the two groups after which they opened fire on each other.

The clash ended up in the death of a man, identified by the police as Shafi Mohammed Sabzoi.

The police said two other persons, Pathoo Sabzoi and Rasoolo Sabzoi, also sustained bullet wounds.

Meanwhile, a dispute over Karo-kari (extramarital affair) was settled by a largely attended jirga (tribal court) presided over by Essani chieftain Manzoor Essani in Mohammed Chuttal Essani village near Tangwani town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Thursday.

After hearing the aggrieved Essani family and accused Jakhrani family, the jirga found a man, Khan Jakhrani, guilty of having an extramarital affair with an Essani woman. He was ordered to pay a fine compensation amounting to Rs400,000 to the aggrieved family.

Accepting the jirga ruling, the Jakhrani family deposited Rs80,000 with the jirga on the spot and promised to pay the rest of the amount within the next three months.
