LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Q has decided to reorganise itself keeping in view the possibility of local polls within a few months.

A decision to the effect was taken at a provincial convention of the party at the Muslim League House here on Sunday. It was attended by office-bearers, MPs and ticket-holders from all districts.

A 20-member body was formed to look after the organisational matters and reach out to the people who had left the party to woo them back as well as launch a mass-contact drive.

A participant in the meeting said some disgruntled workers were making contacts to rejoin the party and the leadership gave them a go-ahead to welcome them back into the party folds.

Speaking to the audience, Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi said the Muslim League workers were present in every nook and corner of the country and they should be organised under the party flag.

They said think-tanks comprising senior leaders would be formed at national and provincial levels, with the provincial body giving its opinion on party reorganisation and the national one making valuable recommendations regarding national matters.

They said worker conventions would be held in every district after Muharram for taking the reorganisation process down to the basic level and a mass-contact campaign would be launched for the purpose.

They said that seeing the anger of the masses against their poor performance, the rulers were afraid of holding the local elections. They asked the party workers to maintain unity in their ranks and become active at the union council level.

Those who attended the convention included Senator Kamil Ali Agha, MNAs Tariq Bashir Cheema, Zain Elahi and Chaudhry Zaheer, Dr Khalid Ranjha, MPAs Moonis Elahi, Waqas Hassan Moakkal and Muhammad Shah Khagga, Ahmad Yaar Heraj, Anwar Bhinder, Rana Zahid Tauseef, Dr Azeemuddin Lakhvi, Ghias Mela and Qamar Hayat Kathia.
