MINGORA: Two persons were killed and six others injured in a collision between a passenger van and an army truck here at Aligrama area of Swat on Saturday.

SHO of Kabal police station, Rahmat Ali, told Dawn by phone that the accident took place near Masjid colony when the passenger coach while overtaking a vehicle rammed into the military truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving two people dead and six others injured.

Police identified the victims as Abdul Wahab of Galooch Kabal, and Ahmad Rahman of Shahdehri. The injured passengers were Gul Parosh and Akbar Shah of Kabal, Ubaid Ullah of Matta, Etbar Gul and Faiz Mohammad of Shahdehri and Salman of Mingora.

The injured were shifted to Saidu Sharif hospital.

The passenger coach driver, Anwar Ali, resident of Langar, survived in the accident.

HOSPITALISED: At least 17 suspected Taliban prisoners on Saturday were hospitalised after they took breakfast at an internment centre here at Fizagatt, Swat.

According to sources, the prisoners started vomiting soon after taking breakfast.

The security forces rushed them to Saidu hospital for treatment, where condition of all of them was stated to be stable.

When contacted, ISPR spokesman for Swat Col Aqeel Malik told Dawn that someone saw a part of lizard in the tea and informed the security forces about it.

He added that the officials shifted 17 persons to Saidu hospital for checkup, adding that according to doctors the men didn’t suffer food poisoning. Later, all the patients were discharged from the hospital.
