ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Friday expressed concerns over the installation of the new electricity meters which ran 30-35 per cent faster than the old ones.
Presiding over a meeting, President ICCI Muzzamil Hussain Sabri said the business community had been demanding that the new meters should be replaced as they ran fast. The authority concerned, he added, was denying the allegation.
He called upon the government to ensure the immediate replacement of the meters to save business activities from further losses and the consumers from over-billing.
The ICCI chief said the government should order Discos to replace the fast-running meters and ensure the standardisation of all the electricity meters.
Mr Sabri said despite long hours’ loadshedding, the consumers were sent inflated bills.
He called upon the government to introduce drastic improvements in the power sector to ensure transparent billing and focus on cheap power generation sources.
