KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) urged Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday to extend the deadline for filing of income tax returns to Dec 31 from Oct 31.

FPCCI President Zakaria Usman said in a statement that taxpayers were facing many issues in filing tax returns on Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) website.

The newly launched e-filing system, IRIS, “is malfunctioning”, he said, adding that the old e-filing system under ‘ITR’ was better.

He also listed around 19 issues and problems being faced by taxpayers. He said that many a time the IRIS software did not even accept Normal Tax Regime and Final Tax Regime which should be automatically calculated by the system.
