KARACHI: Family and relatives of a suspect killed in an alleged encounter in Korangi Industrial Area held a protest demonstration in North Nazimabad on Friday, accusing the CID police of killing their loved one in a staged encounter.

According to Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police, the protesters blocked the main road near Abdullah College and lit bonfires causing suspension of vehicular traffic for around two hours.

Gulberg SP Chaudhry Asad Ali said that the protesters were carrying the coffin of Abdul Jalal and demanded justice for him. Later, they dispersed peacefully, he added.

The relatives told the media that Jalal was taken away from his home in Hussain de Silva Town around one month ago by unidentified men.

They said that they had also filed a petition with the Sindh High Court against his enforced disappearance, but the police on Thursday killed him in a fake encounter.
