ISLAMABAD: Robbers struck a bank in the capital’s rural area and made off with Rs0.5 million cash on Wednesday, police said.

Four armed men stormed into a bank located in Chattha Bakhtawar and held the lone security guard and bank staff at gunpoint. They then looted the cash and escaped.

When contacted, Station House Officer, Shahzad Town police, Abdul Sattar said the bank had only one guard who was in the washroom when the robbers entered the bank. On receiving information, the police reached the spot.

The police official said sketches of the robbers had been drawn with the help of the bank staff and efforts are being made to arrest them.
