KASUR: A man allegedly shot dead his neighbour in Orara village in the jurisdiction of Raja Jang police late on Sunday.

Muhammad Sadiq and Gulzar exchanged words over fireworks and loud music in Gulzar’s house in a wedding ceremony.

The arguments ended in shooting and Gulzar shot at and killed Sadiq.

Police registered a case and are looking into the matter.

In another case, Pattoki Saddar police registered a case against Pervaiz for aerial firing on Sunday in the wedding of his relative. In the firing one Talha was killed.

UVAS: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) organised an orientation programme for the newly-admitted students of undergraduate disciplines at the Ravi Campus in Pattoki on Monday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talata Naseer Pasha said the university was equally focusing on character building and personality development of students along with their education and skills development. He congratulated the students on their admissions.

He mentioned the facilities of classrooms, labs, hostels, research, 24-hour clinical services, poultry and breeding farms and extra-curricular activities in the university. He said students should concentrate on their studies and follow the UVAS discipline.

Faculty of Vetrinery Science Dean Prof Dr Sarwer Khan said the veterinary was the main faculty of the UVAS. Dr Khushi Muhammad also spoke.

Faculty Dean of Bio-Sciences Prof Dr Habibur Rehman described the history of the UVAS and its role.
