TOBA TEK SINGH: A girl was allegedly kidnapped a day before her marriage on Monday in Chak 313-GB, Chuttiana.

According to Chuttiana police, victim’s brother Shahbaz said Zeeshan wanted to marry his sister, but his parents had rejected the proposal. He said his sister was to be married with Arsalan of Shorkot on Tuesday (today).

He alleged Zeeshan and his accomplices barged into the house and kidnapped his sister at gunpoint. He said they also opened fire, but luckily all family members remained unhurt.

Police were conducting raids for the arrest of kidnappers and recovery of the girl.

ARRESTED: The Gojra City police arrested on Monday an activist of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek for attacking a police party in Chak 366-JB.

Police said a case had been registered against Zulfiqar Ahmad in September on charges of attacking a police party, injuring policemen and snatching a rifle from SHO Aftab Ahmad Siddiqui when his house was raided to arrest him.

Police also recovered SHO’s SMG rifle from the custody of the accused.

KILLED: A labourer was killed while two others sustained injuries when an under-construction roof of a room collapsed in Chak 320-GB on Monday.

Pirmahal police said Azeem, 18, was at work along with owner’s brothers Iftikhar, 35, and Imtiaz, 10, when the roof caved in. The Rescue 1122 personnel recovered the three from the rubble. Azeem died while being shifted to DHQ Hospital while both brothers were admitted to THQ Hospital in Pirmahal.
