SUKKUR: Armed men, said to be members of the Jakhrani community, shot dead a man and his son in Qambrani Laro locality near the Kandhkot bypass on Monday.

Hatim Bhayo and his son Shafqat Bhayo, along with Shah Zaib Bhayo and Sahil Bhayo, left Ghouspur town for their native Kaloo Khan Bhayo village in Kandhkot when the car they were travelling in came under armed attack, the B-Section police of Kandhkot said.

The man and his son died on the spot while their companions received minor injuries during the attack, they added.

The police said that the attackers were also riding a car and believed to be chasing the victims.

The bodies were taken to the Kandhkot Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination and then sent to Kaloo Khan Bhayo village for burial.

A land dispute between the Bhayo and Jakhrani communities have left at least 62 people dead and scores of others wounded over the past 15 years, the police and close relatives of the victims said.

No case of the incident was registered till filing this report.
