Eid package for Khyber IDPs

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced Eid package of Rs5,000 for each operation-affected displaced family of Khyber Agency, including Tirah and Bara, residing in the IDP camps of Hangu and Jalozai.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak while talking to a 45-member delegation of IDPs from Khyber Agency that called on him under the leadership of MNA Shehryar Afridi here at the CM Secretariat on Thursday. The CM was apprised of the miserable conditions of about 5,000 affected families of these two camps.

Mr Khattak asked the authorities concerned for taking immediate steps for catering the IDPs needs of food, health and sanitation besides education of their children. He said that all residents of Fata were equally important for the KP government. However, he said that the sudden launch of operation in North Waziristan and emergency situation of its IDPs diverted concentration of his government to their accommodation and settlement. He said that with the cooperation of Pakistan Army durable peace was being established in the whole tribal belt and the IDPs would soon be repatriated to their houses. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would also extend full assistance in their rehabilitation.
