Broadband users reach 3.64m

ISLAMABAD: The number of broadband subscribers has reached 3.64 million by April this year with addition of around 92,396 connections during the month.

As per statistics issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the number was 3.35m till March 2014.

Most subscriptions were of PTCL which added more than 317,000 subscribers on its networks with help of EvDO technology in last three months.

Customers on EvDO networks have reached 1.72m by April this year, which is 49 per cent of the total broadband subscribers. DSL remains at the second place with 1.3m subscriptions.

WiMAX companies lost their share in one month, reaching 5,61,089 subscribers from 563,400 subscribers in March.
