KARACHI: A suspect was shot dead in an alleged encounter in the Seaview area on Friday evening.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party spotted a suspect near Do Darya and signalled him to stop. However, he started firing and the police return fire killing the suspect on the spot.

He was identified as Makhdoom alias Don, said Anti-Violent Crime Cell SSP Nasir Aftab.

He claimed that the deceased allegedly belonged to a Lyari gang.

Seven IEDs, arms seized

The Karachi police claimed to have recovered a huge cache of explosive material near a graveyard on Friday on a lead provided by suspected militants held in the city sometime back.

SSP-West Irfan Baloch said that the SITE police seized seven improvised explosive devices containing total 50 kilogrammes of explosives, two dynamites, five crackers and three rifles.
