Varsity student ‘assaulted’

RAWALPINDI: A university student was abducted by three youngsters who detained her in a house near Misrote Dam on Adiala Road and allegedly raped her on Tuesday, police said.
Inspector Saddar Bairooni police station Raja Rasheed, who is leading the investigation into the case, said raids were being carried out to arrest the culprits who lived in the same street where the girl’s house was located.

The victim was on her way to a private computer college to attend her class when she was intercepted by one of the accused.
Police said the girl was taken to a house near Misrote Dam where two other boys were present. In her complaint, the victim alleged that she was raped by the three boys who also filmed her.
The investigating officer revealed that the girl’s father was deceased and her mother worked as a housemaid.

I wonder why don't we see an outrage on such cases in Pakistan. If Indians can stand up against rapers and demand merciless punishments why can we? I am ready for a dharna in Islamabad until the rape victims get justice if any political leader is ready to hold it. These are the issues we need to stand up on. But only dharnas/protests we see are either or self interest or for political power. No one is standing up for these issues, this is one of the biggest reason of societal decay in Pakistan.

girl’s father was deceased and her mother worked as a housemaid.....case closed..it will be another case which will be thrown in the dust bin..

Justice delayed is justice denied. Sharp increase in rape cases, we are not willing to learn from our neighbors where only one case has significantly brought very big change. Shame on PML-N the owner of BIG mandate and RULERS of Punjab.

Inflict the highest punishment for rape as prescribed in the Sharia and given in Saudi Arabia. Isn't it the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Islamic laws should be carried out ? That's the only way this type of heinous crime can be eliminated, gradually.

A young orphan girl decides to study computer science while her mother works as a housemaid to make ends meet. Society sees these poorest pf the poor, innocent people working hard, hoping against hope to better themselves against...as easy targets for gang rape and ultimate social humiliation and degradation.

Maybe not sharp increase in rape cases but sharp increase in reporting and awareness of freedom in your country's women.Also thank dawn for this.And yes like in India you guys need to get out of your houses to help these victims just because your women can be next! But if you worry then your country will be defamed for high rape cases, well its just a myth.

@imran ali unfortunately in Pakistan rape is the only crime in which the victim becomes the accused. specially if the victim happens to be poor... it is pathetic but thats how it is
