RAWALPINDI: Twenty-one activists of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), detained under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO), were released from the Central Adiala Jail on Thursday night, at about 9.30pm.
As many as 345 PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehrek (PAT) workers were detained by the district administration before August 14, under 3-MPO and sent to different jails in Rawalpindi division.
Out of them, 157 were at Central Adiala Jail, 61 in Attock Jail, 65 in Gujrat District Jail, 38 in Jhelum District Jail and 23 in Mandi Bahauddin Jail.
A large number of family members of the detainees had approached the district coordination officers and the city police officer to get their loved ones released. They had claimed that some of the detainees had nothing to do with any political activity. — Staff Reporter
