PCB refers Ajmal’s case to local bowling committee

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is contemplating its future course of action, weighing all options, after star off-spinner Saeed Ajmal was suspended following an independent analysis of his action in Brisbane.

“It is indeed disappointing in the context of Pakistan cricket and its immediate prospects,” PCB said in statement issued on Tuesday.

“The PCB has referred the matter to its recently-formed Illegal Bowling Action Committee, which will consider the matter and revert with their views and/or recommendations and the Board shall thereafter decide what action to take,” said PCB Chairman, Shaharyar M Khan.

The ICC rules allow PCB a 14-day period to go into appeal.

The PCB's five-member Illegal Bowling Review Committee consists of Mohammad Akram, Mushtaq Ahmed, Ali Zia, Aleem Dar (in case he is on the ICC duty, Ahsan Raza) and Dr Sohail Saleem.

Shame on cricket players including IK, involved in ball tempering. I can't believe that people are following for IK blindly and bestow him with the job of PM. IK is a person who never get tired calling everybody corrupt.

What a stupid action by PCB ! What is the authority or influence of local Bowling Committee on ICC ? Their decision can noy change decision of ICC. PCB is trying to hide behind such ineffective move. Very shamful act Of PCB.

The solution is simple. Work with a coach and remedy the action. No tension. I remember Harbhajan working with Fred Titmus. Youngsters who have a suspect action should get more coaching support at the grassroots level so it does not come to this.
