LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers and supporters on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration in front of the Governor House on second consecutive day and demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resign.

A few scenes of brawl between Insaf Students Federation workers and police were seen on The Mall, primarily because the police tried to stop them from reaching the protest venue in front of the Governor House. The ISF workers also thrashed a traffic warden, who was rescued by police. They also chanted slogans against the police.

A large number of party leaders, ticket-holders, workers and supporters chanted slogans against the government.

Condemning the government for arresting workers, the PTI leaders said the party would continue holding protest demonstrations peacefully.

Speaking to the protesters, PTI Punjab General-Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid said the Punjab government was busy harassing party workers by raiding their homes. She said the 'cruel' rulers had tortured masses in Islamabad and Model Town. She said the government's attitude was undemocratic.

MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal said those speaking in the Parliament were hypocrites.

Meanwhile, PTI Lahore District President Abdul Aleem Khan said the Punjab government could not break the party protest movement across the province by arresting and harassing workers.

He said the PTI workers and supporters would continue protesting till departure of the 'fake-mandate' government.

The PTI's regular protests at Liberty Roundabout and Lalik Chowk were not held on Tuesday.
