KARACHI: Several parts of the country's financial capital were without power as a high transmission line tripped on Friday and power supply was suspended to several areas of the city.

Electric supply was discontinued to Baldia, SITE, North Karachi, Federal B Area, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Malir areas of the city.

According to Karachi Electric (KE) sources, the outage was caused due to a technical fault which led to the tripping of a major transmission line.

KE representatives when contacted said that the fault occurred due to tripping of a feeder and extra high tension lines and that restoration would take up to four hours.

However, the official twitter account of KE was responding to queries of the public regarding the power outage.
