LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Education and Law Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan hosted a reception on Friday for the eight teachers getting scholarship under the Faculty Development Programme for a higher education abroad.

The minister said the Punjab Higher Education Department had released Rs200 million for the programme.

He said the programme began with the technical cooperation of the British Council where 16 lecturers showing outstanding performance in their educational institutions would be sent abroad twice a year in January and September.

He said that eight lecturers posted in various colleges affiliated with public universities of the province would be sent for further education in the universities of New Zealand while eight lecturers to Britain every year.

He said four male and four female lecturers were among the selected teachers being sent to the UK this year.

He said master degree courses would be arranged for them in the Queen Mary University of London, University of Manchester, University of Bristol, University of Surrey and University of Canterbury Britain.

The minister said the programme aimed at preparing the leaders of future in various disciplines.
