PTI’s conundrum

Published August 23, 2014

THE Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf billed itself as a democratic party, but KhyberPakhtunkhwa is still devoid of local governments. Why isn’t the PTI able to hold local government elections in KP in 14 months?. Is this also a fault of the federal government?

It seems logical that the PTI is demanding the resignation of the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister because of rigging in the election and the Model Town incident. When the Bannu Jail SP can resign after the escape of nearly 400 criminals and terrorists, why not the PM and the CM?

The PTI is thus not in a position to negotiate with the federal government until the resignations of the PM and the CM. On the other hand, the PTI went to all lengths to negotiate with non-state actors. Owing to the PTI’s opposition to the operation, terrorists found enough time to reach their safe havens.

I am not a follower of Nawaz Sharif, but I am a supporter of the office of the prime minister. This office represents Pakistan’s sanctity, sovereignty and dignity. Once you brush aside the prime minister by means of protest and anger, this cycle would not be able to halt. And we also know that the MQM, Jaamat-i-Islami and the PML can gather 10 times more mob than this.

Just let democracy flourish even if it is not present in its real form.
