LAHORE: Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal may miss the entire forthcoming One-day International series against Sri Lanka as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has asked him to report to a bio-mechanical laboratory in Brisbane, Australia to clear himself from the allegation of having a suspect bowling action.

The bowler is leaving for Brisbane on Saturday. Though his tests in Brisbane will take just a day, in case the lab requires more tests Ajmal will have to extend his stay there and in the process will also miss the remaining two games of the ODI rubber starting on Saturday in Hambantota.

The wily bowler’s action was declared suspect by field umpires Ian Gould and Bruce Oxenford during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Aug 11 over a number of deliveries that were considered to be suspect.

The officials concluded that the bowler’s action needed to undergo tests.

It is significant to mention here that the PCB is worried about Ajmal’s clearance because the initial reports it received indicated that the bowler’s action had some problem when he bowled over the wicket, and that too after long spells.
