PCB unanimously elects Shahryar Khan as chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday unanimously elected Shahryar M. Khan as the new chairman of the board.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board sources, no one had submitted their nomination papers to contest for the position except Shahryar Khan who had also served as the board’s chairman in the past.

Friday was the last day for submission of nominations for the post which fell vacant with Najam Sethi's departure.

The announcement of his appointment as Chairman PCB is expected after overhauling of his papers. He would thenceforth be unanimously elected as Chairman PCB.

A 10-member PCB Governing Board was initially expected to elect the board’s new chairman on Aug 18 (Monday) but as no nomination papers were received by anyone against Shaharyar he was most likely to be declared as elected unopposed.

Wow... what an election! Well done Sethi.... To be fair I dont know much else about Pervez's actions in the PCB, but i distinctly remember he made a complete hash of the Inzimam protest at Oval in 2006...

@Harmony does being a career diplomat make him an ideal choice to run matters all cricket. he may have been a Career Diplomat (pun intended) but would not know jack about cricket. with him cronyism will be very healthy within PCB (as if it wasnt already under that cartoon character calling himself SETHI). these so called career diplomats are a malaise and they should all retire for good. why is that in the the country of 190 million we could only find a HAS BEEN CAREER DIPLOMAT as a PCB chairman....what a farcical thing to go.

Appears to be on the recommendation of the Indian ICC Chairman.When Indians visited last Sheharyar went out of the way to facilitate them and ensured series win for them by a disgraceful margin.Ramiz also made a sizeable contribution by denying normal Pakistani crowed participation.
