LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday inquired Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) advocate Ahmed Owais over the possibility of a special and protected venue for the long march.

The question by a larger bench of the LHC comprising Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed and Justice Anwarul Haq came up during the hearing a petition against PTI chief Imran Khan’s Azadi march.

The petition, filed by citizen Muhammad Kamran, states that the protest would propagate anarchy in the country.

During the hearing, the bench directed the PTI's counsel to ask party chairman Imran Khan if a safe venue for the protest would be acceptable.

The court gave Owais time until 12pm to inquire from Imran and then inform the bench. If the PTI replies in affirmative, the LHC would direct the government to provide a specific and secure venue to the party.

During yesterday’s hearing of the case, the court had directed the attorney general to ask Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif regarding his suggestions on the long march while instructing PTI's counsel Owais to ask Imran about his demands so the political crisis could be amicably resolved.
