Nawaz meets PML-N leaders in Raiwind

LAHORE: A meeting of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and federal and Punjab cabinet ministers was under way in Raiwind under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Mashood and a number of other party members were in attendance.

Inspector General Punjab Police Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera and the province home secretary were also attending the meeting.

The meeting is aimed at discussing options at hand for convincing Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) to abandon the idea of the 'Azadi' march.

The meeting was also discussing options regarding the consequences of the march reaching the capital on August 14.

Earlier today, sources had said that the meeting would also include retired army officers who are currently members of the PML-N to reflect on the situation from a possible military perspective.

A meeting of the Corps Commanders was also under way at the general headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The developments are taking place at a time when Prime Minister Sharif is under immense pressure to step down over alleged corruption and election rigging. Speculations are rife in the country about an impending political change.

It has been very unfortunate series of events aimed at Mr. Nawaz Shareef, as and when he comes to power and starts improving the infrastructure and economic conditions of Pakistan, obstructions are created in the way of progressive vision of this great Leader.

I dont want to see face of Sharif Brothers anymore, government must be pulled down and sharif brothers must be handed over to the victims of Model Town killings, they should decide what should be done with them. Time has come to rise up against the brutal monarchy of Sharif Tribe and their corrupt tactics. In shah Allah our sacrifices will bring humanity and justice to our homeland.

In complete solidarity with NS, if elections were rigged, they were to such small extent that none of 38 resolved petitions filed by PTI have got decisions in their favor, infact their own candidates have proven to be involved in rigging. NS, dont worry, this hard time will pass.

@MSAlvi He tries to copy ZAB but that person was a world personality but contrary to that this guy has no place in the comity of world leaders. ZAB used to take world forum meetings at this residence in Larkana but that was true to his stature and statesmanship

Poor leader always closing the gate when the horse has bolted. Too little too late. Now to get some advise from the cronies who gave wrong advice in the first place. Only person Nawaz should listen to now is Ch Nisar otherwise forget it.

@M.M.Sherazi ... A civil dictator who has concentration in increasing his wealth and running govt like a king cannot give progress to country. He is a failure in past and now. He came to power with election fraud, lies and false promises. Pakistan has gone further down socially and evonomically in last 1 year.

Mr.Qadri should be arrested and charged for inciting violence against law enforcement agencies like police and conspiring to assassinate an elected prime minister of Pakistan. No democracy can survive if any religious leader starts telling its congregation to rise and start a revolution against a democratically elected government .Mr Qadri has a one point agenda and that is to become Pakistan's Ayya-Tulla-Khomini and he must be stopped.

@M.M.Sherazi NS improving the economic conditions of Pakistan? He is concerned with increasing his own wealth at the cost of Pakistan. I ask you two questions: 1. What was the amount of foreign debt when NS took over and how much it is right now? 2. What were the rates of electricity and duration of load shedding in the previous government and what are those now? And think about Nandipur Project before proclaiming NS as the nation's savior.

Won't it be cheaper if the meeting were held in Islamabad. Every minister and party leaders will have to travel to Raiwind and the big cost involved. Behaving like a Monarch is absolutely correct.

It was not only Nawaz Sharief who won, the party won the election and has every right to govern with and without NS. How ironic the very PML law makers on whose shoulders he entered primer ship were given cold shoulder till today. There has been hardly any voice from more than 200 PML parliamentarians showing their pleasure at the discomfort of their KING.
