AFTER participating in the elections, taking oath in parliament as MNA and forming government in KP, Imran Khan now wants to opt for a million-man tsunami march on Islamabad to topple the federal government and eradicate corruption. The reason is the government’s unwillingness to revisit polling results in four constituencies.

Even more shocking are the claims that the PTI’s tsunami will be the real independence day of Pakistan. I urge them to take a breath and pause to think.

What has the PTI planned for the post-revolution stage? It makes better sense to be on the Electoral Reforms Committee and frame laws to improve the electoral process and avoid expenses on political rallies and spend that money in seeking justice through tribunals and courts. Great deeds can be done without a sit-in.

One must not forget that political turmoil and confrontational politics can pave the way for an eventuality in which warring politicians may not have a role. The losers will be the people of Pakistan.

Pakistan is a moral and intellectual achievement, said Jinnah, who sought to achieve political and economic independence for the Muslims of the subcontinent where they could also freely practise their religious faith and beliefs. How will a revolution as presently preached achieve all that?
