Issuing new notes

Published August 1, 2014

THIS refers to the report (July 24) wherein one person is entitled to new notes for Rs20,000. I went to the local branch of a private bank and requested for new notes for both my wife and myself.

After a long wait I was given very few notes (60pc). Frankly, there were others who got hardly any.

I would suggest that the government apply some premium tax on new notes and discourage the mafia. People who need notes may pay a fee instead of paying premium to mafia.
