Pakistan grabs three medals in Commonwealth Games

GLASSGOW: Pakistan clinched two medals in the Commonwealth Games as Pakistani wrestler Qamar Abbas on Tuesday grabbed a silver medal in a free-style, 74 kilogram category wrestling match.

This brought the Pakistani tally to three medals in the Commonwealth Games.

In the final wrestling match of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Abbas lost to his Indian rival Sushil Kumar who stole the spotlight by winning a gold medal.

Meanwhile, Azhar Hussain in a near immaculate display of skills overthrew his South African opponent out of the wrestling ring within the initial three minutes of the match.

Hussain won the bronze medal by 11 points to 1.

He had also won a gold medal in Delhi during 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Earlier, Shah Hussain Shah from Pakistan had bagged a silver medal in the 100-kg Judo event.

Australia tops the Commonwealth Games with an impressive total of 91 medals including 32 gold ones.

England ranks on the second spot with 81 medals, including 29 gold medals.

Clinching 13 gold medals and in all 31 accolades, the host country Scotland is at third place.
