KARACHI: Despite brilliant century by opener Mohammad Imran, Faisalabad wolves star suffered a heartbreaking eight-run defeat against BankIslami in the 2nd Peace Cup T20 Night Cricket Tournament here on Sunday.
Imran bludgeoned 120 from mere 60 deliveries with the aid of 15 boundaries and five sixes as the Faisalabad side were all out 183 in 19.2 overs after being asked to chase 191.
Spinner Sharib Mahmood claimed four wickets for 23 runs while also taking the first hat-trick of the competition. Fellow slow left-armer Azizullah captured three for 24.
BankIslami, earlier, reached 191-5 in 20 overs with opener Nadir Ansari making 78 (off 42 balls, six fours and five sixes), Talha Fahim 40 (30 balls, three sixes and two fours) and Asif Siddiqui 30 (24 balls, four fours and a six).
Imran and Shariq were declared joint man-of-the-match.
