Terrorists' command, control centre in North Waziristan eliminated: Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday said the army has managed to eliminate the terrorists' command and control centre in the North Waziristan tribal region, DawnNews reported.

Asif said the armed forces were going after the terrorists, adding that these elements would be apprehended regardless of where they may be located in the country.

"The state will go after the terrorists in all provinces," the minister said, adding that the state had managed to ensure that the network of militants had started to collapse.

The defence minister's statement comes a little over a month after the launch of a full scale military operation in North Waziristan.

Zarb-i-Azb: The 'War of Survival'

Operation Zarb-i-Azb in the militancy-infested region was launched nearly a week after the attack on Karachi's Jinnah International Airport in order to wipe out longstanding bases of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups.

The semi-autonomous tribal area on the Afghan border has for years been a hideout for several militant groups including Al-Qaeda and the TTP as well as foreign fighters such as Uzbeks and Uighurs.

They had a "Command and Control Centre"? OMG. Or is it just a buiding with a poster of that name? What all was recovered from there? If they had hi-tech stuff, which country supported them? Did they have the know-how to manufacture such stuff? When will the Pak media ask the right and straight questions?

Not Impressed, we can't say we are winning when we are actually killing your own citizens (what ever the reasons would be). Its another failure of our defence strategy which we executed in last 25 years. For me its not a success. May Allah help Pakistan to get ride of these incompetent leadership (so called).

I am a huge fan of our Pakistani Army because they have always helped Pakistan through thick and thin. If terrorist's command and control centers have been destroyed, why they are still able to kill/ambush the forces in such a coordinated way? The terrorists can still roam around and give us surprises every day. The Govt talks about conspiracies and other countries involvement. Why the Govt cann't provide the people and the world any proofs of others involvement yet? This minister sounds out of line.

Dear Defence Minister, do you really have to keep yourself in the picture while issuing this "stale" information? The whole World already knows about this as ISPR keeps us updated almost every day, try for efficient Power Generation and reduce load shedding which is your task, you were made "shadow" Defence Minister by Nawaz to avoid facing Court of Law, please don't take it seriously as you know how you are treated in functions of our beloved Armed Forces.Hope you read my comment.

Before condemning Khaja sahib please consider that defense minister is the most defenseless minister in pakistan it is the ministry no body in cabinet wants, he has nothing in his powers to act as a defense minister , all he can do is thinking all the time not to do or say anything so he has to defend his own life.
