MARDAN: The Scholarship Selection Committee of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan on Monday awarded overseas PhD scholarships to two teachers.

The decision was taken at the 45th meeting of the committee held at the varsity’s main campus chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Ihsan Ali.

Saman Yaqub, lecturer at the department of zoology, and Zeeshan Anwar, lecturer at the department of pharmacy, were awarded overseas PhD scholarships. Saman Yaqub has been awarded scholarship in zoology at University of Leicester, UK, while Zeeshan Anwar has been awarded scholarship in pharmacy at Trinity College of Dublin, UK.

Speaking at the meeting, Professor Ihsan Ali said it was their first and foremost responsibility to educate their faculty. “We will keep strengthening our faculty both academically and professionally so that they can cope with the modern day challenges,” he vowed. Professor Ali congratulated the recipients of the overseas PhD scholarship.

Registrar Professor Zahoor-ul-Haq, dean of arts Professor Jehanzeb Khan, dean of science Professor Khanzadi Fatima, director academics Dr Qasim, director human resource development Dr Amir Zaman, treasurer Mohammad Tariq, deputy treasurer Arsh-ur-Rehman, provost Ibrar Hussain, deputy director planning & development Sayim Sohail and assistant director HRD, Afzaal Humayun Khan were also in attendance. — Correspondent
