Britain's Hague steps down as foreign secretary

LONDON: Britain's William Hague announced his resignation as foreign secretary to become leader of the lower house of parliament on Monday, part of a reshuffle of the Conservative-led government.

“Tonight I am standing down as Foreign Secretary after four years to serve as Leader of the House of Commons,” Hague wrote on Twitter. “I will not stand as an MP in the May 2015 General Election.”

Hague's new role will see him coordinating the government's business in the lower house of Britain's parliament.

Prime Minister David Cameron, the leader of the Conservative party, is carrying out what is expected to be a final reshuffle of top government jobs before a national election next May and is expected to announce a raft of new appointments on Tuesday.

Remarkable journey of William Hague's political journey. He started political training as a young boy and was in politics for good thirty five years, remained MP for twenty five years. William Hague is the poster boy of politician training. Pakistan should learn from his life experience. Student union, labor union and local government election is the ladders of training. Look no farther than Turkey. The current PM has gone through the same grooming and is a successful politician today, after thirty years of training. Good luck William, I wish you the very best, although you have not done much for Pakistan and Muslims in general.
