PESHAWAR: Militants set ablaze three vehicles of the Frontier Works Organisation in the Shagaye area of the Khyber tribal region's Jamrud tehsil late Friday night.

Official sources said the vehicles set alight were meant for a road construction project in the agency.

Sources added that two vehicles were completely destroyed while one was partially damaged.

Meanwhile, militants distributed a pamphlet in parts of Khyber warning the Khasadar force, security personnel and government officials to give up their jobs or else they would be targeted.

According to locals, the pamphlet was distributed by Jaish-i-Khurasan organisation.

Earlier this week, an employee of the FWO was injured when an FWO vehicle came under fire in Quetta's Washuk area.

Police said unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle attacked the FWO vehicle. “As a result, one of the employees of the FWO received bullet injuries,” police said, adding that the assailants fled the scene after the incident.

The militant organisation is operating in the tribal regions of Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur.

Meanwhile, Mattani police arrested more than 62 suspects during a search operation in Peshawar and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from their possession.

According to police, some of the suspects included hardened criminals.
