Khasadars donate for fallen comrades

LANDI KOTAL: The khasadar personnel on Wednesday donated Rs1 million from their salaries to compensate the families of six of their colleagues who were killed in two incidents of terrorism, last month.

Three khasadar personnel were killed in an attack on a checkpost near Jamrud dry port, while three more were slain in a similar attack on Hawaldari checkpost near Jamrud bazaar in the last week of June.

Assistant political agent Roshan Mehsud, political tehsildar Irshad Khan along with the personnel of Khasadar and levies force collected Rs1 million from their own resources and handed over Rs150,000 each to relatives of the six slain personnel.

Meanwhile, MNA Haji Shahji Gul distributed cash and cheques among the needy patients and students in Jamrud on Wednesday. Rs190,000 was distributed among three patients suffering from different ailments, while a student was awarded Rs38,000 for payment of his tuition fee in Peshawar University. The MNA also donated Rs43,000 for repair of a mosque in Ali Masjid area.

In Landi Kotal, a student was killed after being hit by a speeding trailer. The khasadar personnel arrested the erring driver and sent him to lockup.

In Jamrud, security forces defused an improvised explosive device planted along the roadside near New Abadi.
