LANDI KOTAL: Security forces have arrested four suspected militants during a search operation after an exchange of fire with a group of militants in Jamrud.

Officials said that a patrol party of Frontier Corps and Khasadar force came under fire from suspected militants in Lashurra locality of Jamrud on Thursday evening. The ensuing exchange of fire continued for some time with no casualties on either side.

The Khasadar and FC personnel later conducted a search operation in the area during which four suspects were taken into custody while three motorcycles believed to be used in terror acts were also impounded.

In Landi Kotal tehsil, an elderly man was killed during exchange of fire between two groups. Sources said that the incident

occurred after some children from Abdullah and Qalam Gul families quarreled with each other.

They alleged that while Mr Gul was trying to pacify the situation, Abdullah with some other family members opened fire which resulted in critical injuries to Mr Gul. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The Khasadar force later arrested Abdullah and persuaded the two parties for a temporary ceasefire in accordance with local traditions.
