UNDP contradicts Imran’s rigging allegations

ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Director Marc-Andre Franche has contradicted the allegations of PTI chief Imran Khan regarding the interruption in its election project on May 11, 2013 polling day, saying that none of its consultants were ejected from the offices of the Returning Officers.

The UNDP Country Director also insisted that none of its computers were shut down after the victory speech of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as alleged by Khan on May 11.

Marc-Andre Franche said that none of the consultants were ejected from the offices of Returning Officers or witnessed their computers being shut down.

It may be mentioned that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief alleged in his speech at a public rally in Bahawalpur last week that soon after the ‘victory speech’ of Nawaz Sharif, the data operators stopped sending computerised result copies to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Earlier, the ECP had also denied Khan’s claim that a UNDP election result gathering project was halted after Nawaz Sharif’s speech on May 11 last year.

It shows the real Imran. UNDP' s clarification literally calls him a liar. How far would he stoop to convert a big fat lie into a big fat truth? A delusional personality, living in a fool's paradise where he actually belongs. He does not deserve my vote or any one else's now or ever.

So what now - this is not the first time IK is twisting the facts (he has made a habit out of it), I was a big fan and supporter of PTI but given his statements and attitude - I can say that next time PTI won't get a penny from my pocket nor will it get my support.

The UNDP needs to provide proof of their statement. Its clear that massive rigging has been unsurfaced during recounting of several constituencies. How the typing errors and massive indifference occurred under the presence of such counter balance check.

Good tactic used by UNDP this time. If UNDP had accepted IK statement, they would have lost credibility for being silent for than a year on this issue. By issuing this statement, UNDP set aside itself from criticism

Those who funded Geo to turn up against Imran Khan are the same who are directly funding UNDP as well...you connect the dots. Whenever the election commission has investigated, they have discovered major rigging. If you want more proof, just open more constituencies :)

Imran is trying to lie as fast as he can. From his blatant twisting of what Gen Kayani told him regarding Waziristan operation to his gambling with poeple's zakat money to his support of Taliban. He hopes that people have short memories and if lied to often enough will start believing in his lies. He is a disgrace.

The then Chief Justice was not involved, no returning officers were involved and no balloting box was ever stuffed with bogus vote. Yes I would have believed that IK is a nut case, had the four constituencies have been opened for recount. I have seen the PMLN Govt lie about electricity issue, Model Town Incident, Fake police encounters and the list goes on. Use your reasoning power, if a party is able to control election commission, police and the judiciary, don't you think so it is able to control UNDP? UNDP is running multi million dollars projects across Pakistan, and an anti Government statement can easily make it a target for so called "Terrorist outfits of Punjab" like LeJ and TTP. You don't mess with people with such power. However Imran Khan is the only person who is standing against them and here is a living proof; Media has been used against him, the way media was used to manipulate election results. I am with IK, no matter what.

Yes, none of its six consultants was ejected. But what about the ROs? According to another report, UNDP also said they know NOTHING about what ROs and data entry operators did with the RMS and could not monitor their activities. IK's assertion was that ROs sent manual data instead of thru RMS which is simply a fact. So why was it manual despite presence of RMS?

Yea, and FAFEN reported the elections were free and fair, when our own NADRA, heavily influenced by the PMLN admitted rigging. Shows how relevant these overseas bodies are in determining the truth.

Again i would say wrongly done here dawn , Nadeem Malik asked the questions here and acc to the reply that UNDP was present on 6-Locations & in NO Position to Know What Was Done by 400+ ROs with Election Management System , the 6 systems were not shut down but why did the ROs gave Hand written results when EMS was online , as per UNDP they dont know what ROs did

It amazes me to see these comments. Whatever Imran's faults, he is not atleast as corrupt as the sharifs/zardaris. He is a decent man and the nation must give him a chance. These elections were rigged, if they were not, mian shahib would not have any problem recounting or confirming those four halkas.

Well I worked with RO and i was a person looking at operators. It was my duty to make sure operators work efficiently and don't make mistakes. Well IK is right here, when polling results started coming, RO ordered us to skip that RMS software and prepare manual results.

This is not a "story" by Imran Khan, this is what is written in the ruling by Election Tribunal, Faisalabad by Javaid Rashid Mahboobi. He is merely reiterating that. If there is anything wrong then it is with the ruling. Sad that people rely on such crass reporting. I would attach a copy of it here if I could.

@malik wow! IK blames UNDP and its UNDP who actually have to provide a proof? Catch some sense for God's sake. When you blame someone its YOU who's got to OFFER A PROOF. Any sane man will ask IK to prove what he said. Now watch him & his followers while shouting that UNDP was funded by Government and could not be trusted. Oh and don't ask them to prove it.

This is not a contradiction, there were hundreds of Stations and only 6 were managed by UNDP which were not stopped, the Spokesman did not ay about others but only his 6 stations.

see JAVED CHAUDHRY program on 3rd JULY 2014 . IK showed the proved docmuments of UNDP claiming his allegation as TRUE . and after that he said "I HAVE NOW HEAR THAT UNDP IS CLAIMING IT to be FALSE" .
