SHEIKHUPURA: Fourteen passengers suffered burn injuries with four in serious condition when a fire broke out in a passenger van on Naushera Virkan Road, some 20km from here, on Saturday.

The van was en route to Naushera Virkan from Sheikhupura when the incident occurred. The entire luggage on board was reduced to ashes while the vehicle was also damaged.

The critically injured Ismail, Asif, Allah Rakhi and Aftab were shifted to a hospital in Lahore.

According to a witness and the injured people, the fire broke out due to a short circuit and aggravated when a container of petrol inside the vehicle caught fire.
