Investigation office Tajmalook Khan said that the bullet shells were recovered from a dried-up water channel in Sulemankhel included Short Machine Guns (SMGs), G3 and AK 47 which might have been used to target the PIA flight.

The investigation officer further said additional information in the case would be collected after coordination with the pilot and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), adding that it would help in establishing if the same kind of bullets were used to target the aircraft.

The KP police have also devised a strategy to secure the airport. Besides setting up a quick response force team, a special team comprising more than 175 personnel would also be raised besides night patrolling and surveillance of the airport in coordination with the CAA.

what is the credibility of this reporter and his report. The area from where the bullets have been found is famous for their addiction to aerial firings.

SMGs = Sub-machine guns. 'Short machine guns' is a wrong term, simply does not exist. Also, the AK-47 and G3 rifles come in the category of assault rifles and not SMGs.

The news report need more and detailed investigation like how far is Sulemankhel from edge of the runway, drawing conclusion the altitude of the Airbus when fired upon and could the landing route be protected from future attacks while restoring confidence of passengers and airlines who have halted their flights. Did the bullets which hit the airplane and the passenger/cabin-crew match the fired cases and the make and type of the weapons mentioned in the report. This will give a clear idea how the forensic investigation of the police department is working on this case. SMG stand for Sub-machine gun not small machine gun.

Why do our LEAs wake up only after an attack has occurred..? security beefed up etc done always after an attack means they are waiting to plug holes identified by the attackers...why ? because we are not expert in prevention but treatment, that too to some extent.....we are way behind many countries in similar situation......

The responsible of this horrible act should be traced and arrested to bring to the justice at any cost to put an example in place for the others might be thinking to follow this cheap tactic to undermine Govt ability to protect their state affairs. So just one thing to must do is to get these responsible to face the justice !

The Peshawar airport firing is just a trial one for the militant groups operating and well settled in pockets/goths sorrounding Karachi/Peshawar/Quetta airports.
