KARAK: The laboratory test has found the drinking water of Karak city and some parts of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil to be unfit for human consumption.

According to the report of laboratory test, water is injurious to human health due to the excessive presence of chemicals.

The district health department had sent water samples to a government facility in Peshawar for quality examination.

The report said the water supplied by three Tehsil Municipal Administration, Karak schemes to Karak city was unfit for human consumption due to the excessive existence of nitrates, chlorine, carbon monoxide and other chemicals, which caused stomach ulcer, baldness and blood shortage in body.

It said the drinking water in Khojaki Kala, Sadiq Korona, Raees Korona and some other areas of Takht-i-Nusrati was also injurious to human health as the presence of chemicals in it was not normal.

Meanwhile, the local residents complained water supplied to Karak city with 30,000 population was dirty and thus, causing stomach problems.

They said some of them had opted for mineral water but the majority didn’t manage to pay for bottled water.

They said chairman of the district development advisory committee Gul Sahib Khan had begun work on the feasibility of water supply from Lawagher dam to Karak city but the project faced shortage of funds.

The people demanded early supply of clean drinking water to the city and adjoining areas for their good health.
