ISLAMABAD: In an interesting turn of events, more than 200 parliamentarians have submitted a privileged motion in the NA Secretariat for the suspension of Jamshed Dasti’s membership from the House.

Members of all political parties signed the motion against Dasti, an independent MNA from Muzaffargarh.

The motion said that Dasti had defamed parliamentarians, including female MNAs, by accusing them of engaging in immoral activities in the parliament lodges.

The motion was signed by almost all female members of the House.

Earlier this year, Dasti had accused parliamentarians of bringing alcohol, hashish and dancing girls inside the premises of the parliament lodges.

Dasti had claimed that he had video footage to prove his allegations, but the MNA failed to produce credible evidence to support his claims.

He had also asked the speaker to hold an inquiry into the matter but had been warned that if his allegations were proved wrong, the house would decide on what action should be taken against him.
